Erbil - Dohuk - Rawanduz - Sulaymaniyah
Iraqi Kurdistan grants a visa on arrival to most European countries in addition to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, and others.
-Start to tour by driving to Lalish, which contains the holiest temple of the Yazidi religion. We will take a tour inside it and learn about the suffering they experienced with ISIS.
-We will go to Khinnis Reliefs, An Assyrian archaeological site during the reign of "Sennacherib" (705–681 BC). Khinnis was built in order to "celebrate the construction of a complex system of canals" whose aim was to supply the capital of the empire, Nineveh.
-Go to Alqosh one of the oldest monasteries in the world with its wonderful location on the mountain.
-Dinner, Overnight in Duhok.
-Start by going to Amedi, on the top of a mountain there is a village that has not expanded for a thousand years. We tour its streets and visit its historical gate.
-Continue driving to Deraluk, which is one of the most beautiful swimming places with its blue waters, we will go hiking along a canal next to the valley.
-Go to Barzan and hike to reach Shandar Cave, which is considered one of the oldest caves in the world with a history dating back 80 thousand years, containing the skeletons of Nyardtal.
-Dinner and overnight in Rawanduz.
-Start by driving between the mountains along the river and stop several times to take pictures, especially next to Kurdistan Rock.
-Go to Akre, our penultimate stop for the day is a visit to the Muslim Sufi shrine in Akre, home to a large community of Dervishes.
-Go to Mar Mattei Monastery, with a history dating back to the fourth century AD, it was an important center for the Church of the East at that time. The monastery is located on a mountain with a wonderful view.
-Drive to Erbil and go to Erbil Castle which is located in the center of Erbil city, and the history of this castle dates back to the thousand years BC, going the surrounding bazaar, where you can buy some souvenirs and enjoy the local atmosphere of Erbil.
- Dinner and overnight in Erbil.
-Drive to Sulaymaniyah and head to the infamous “Red prison” once a torture center for Saddam Hussein’s regime. The prison is now a fascinating museum.
-Walk through the bustling central Bazar right next to our hotel.
-Tea in a traditional tea hous.
-Go to The Roman Theater, it can accommodate five thousand people and is an exact copy of the Roman Colosseum.
-At sunset, we’ll drive up Goyzha Mountain for the stunning views overlooking Sulay.
-Dinner, overnight in Sulaymaniyah
-Drive to Halabja and go to the Halabja Monument, built in honor of the victims of the Baath Party's chemical attack on the city and we will visit their mass grave cemetery.
-We'll then head to Byara Village, the last village in Iraqi Kurdistan next to the Iranian border, and previously the front-line in the Iran/Iraq war. At this point, we’ll be standing just a few meters away from Iran!
-Drive back to Sulaymaniyah, dinner, overnight in Sulaymaniyah.
-Start by going to the Civilians' Museum, which is filled with historical objects from the area, and from various periods - from Sumerian/Assyrian to the modern era.
-Cross by Dukan Lake and go to the Rock-cut tombs of Qizqapan, Carved into the side of a cliff, is a tomb built by Medes.
-Arrive in Erbil and go to Jalil Khayat Mosque in Erbil city which is the largest mosque in Kurdistan, distinguished by its architecture and colors from the inside.
-In the evening, go to Erbil Bazaar again, farewell dinner, overnight in Erbil.
-Transfer to the airport according to the flight time.
